How does Somerset Animal Hospital work with pet insurance? Currently, our policy with pet insurance is you pay everything at the time of visit, and you file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement. If your insurance company needs any forms filled out or additional information from us, we are happy to assist with that.

Why do we suggest pet insurance? We suggest pet insurance for our clients because, with the rising costs in the veterinary industry, we still want to provide quality pet care to our patients without the financial burden on our clients.

When is the best time to get pet insurance? NOW! When your pet is healthy. As a puppy or kitten is ideal, but it’s never too late. Most pet insurance companies DO NOT cover pre-existing conditions. Like most insurance, it’s best to have it before something happens to ensure coverage.

Always do your own research and ask lots of questions while picking a pet insurance company and policy. Different companies and policies cover different procedures, prescriptions and have different terms as to when and how much they will cover.
